Not only men, but motorcycles are also a means of transportation for women in their activities. Many women have chosen motorbikes as their daily vehicles.

To that end, Yamaha Riding Academy (YRA) from Yamaha DDS 3 (Central Java – DIY) provides several points that can be applied when riding a motorcycle on the streets.

“With so many female motorcyclists, they also need to implement safety riding. We hope to be able to support driving safety which is very important when riding on the road,” said Johannes BMS, Chief Yamaha DDS 3.

The following are safety riding guidelines for women:

  1. 1. Wear complete safety gear, comfortable materials, and the right size so that the body is well protected.
  2. Use gloves to ride a motorcycle and avoid using satamo gloves so that hand movement is maximized.
  3. Avoid using skirts (short or tight). We recommend using long pants or long skirts in order to protect the legs to the maximum.
  4. Avoid carrying a bag on the side or handbag so as not to get caught in another vehicle.
  5. Use shoes with flat bottoms or sports shoes. Avoid high heels so as not to disturb your balance when you stop.
  6. Use the turn signal according to its designation correctly so as not to confuse other motorists.
  7. When riding with children, make sure the child uses complete safety gear. Position the child behind the driver, avoid bringing toddlers alone because toddlers cannot use complete safety gear.
  8. For hijabers, it is recommended to use a jacket so that the veil does not flutter and cover the back light.
  9. Choose a safe road, avoid crowded roads like many trucks and drivers who drive fast.
  10. Concentration and keep emotions.
  11. Always obey traffic signs and regulations.
