BMW M has finally released a prototype car, the XM Concept, this Tuesday (11/30/2021). The car is a birthday present for BMW M, which has reached the age of 50. In addition, the XM Concept is also prepared as BMW's initial capital to fight in the super-luxury and fast-powered SUV segment which has been filled by Rolls-Royce Cullinan, Bentley Bentayga and Lamborghini Urus.
BMW M does not play around in preparing the capital for battle. XM Concept is believed to be the only fastest car they have ever made. Total power is claimed to reach 750 horsepower. That power is able to beat the power of the previous fastest BMW M car, namely the BMW M5 CS which has a maximum power of 627 horsepower.
When compared to its competitors, the BMW XM Concept is indeed much more muscular. Lamborghini Urus only has a maximum power of 641 horsepower. Likewise, the Rolls-Royce Cullinan at 563 horsepower and the Bentley Bentayga at 443 horsepower.
It's just that it should be noted, the BMW XM Concept has abundant power because it is supported by a battery. Yes, the German passport car is indeed a hybrid car. So, the overflow of power in conventional machines can be induced again from electric motors.
"The BMW XM Concept represents a holistic way of re-imagining the high-performance car segment. This car shows our ability to push boundaries. This is the first car made purely by BMW M after the BMW M1," said Franciscus van Mee, CEO of BMW M GmbH.
Not only with great power, the BMW XM Concept also has a controversial design. The car with the same wheelbase as the BMW X7 has an unusual appearance for a BMW SUV.
The gigantic grille display that has been on BMW recently, is now even bigger on the BMW XM Concept. The crazy thing is that the giant grille can shine brightly, giving rise to the silhouette of a typical BMW kidney grille.
The size of this car is enormous. It's just that BMW M is trying to make it like a sedan coupe. This is shown at the stern or the C pillar and the D pillar which are increasingly sloping and narrow.
Sharp lines also look very dominant throughout the car body. No wonder many people's opinions are divided about the exterior design of the BMW M car.
Luckily the interior looks very charming. BMW M managed to create an exclusive feel in the interior through high-quality design and materials.
The controversial design was even admitted to being deliberately done for a differentiating factor. Including the BMW car family itself. "This is an extravagant BMW M statement in the luxury car segment. The car has a unique identity and expressive style that other BMW cars don't have," said Domagoj Dukec, Head of BMW Design.
BMW M is very serious about the car. Production is planned to start next year. And don't expect any changes because BMW M is already very satisfied with the existing look.
